Discover Sonora’s Stories with City Historian Pat Perry

Join us for a lively and fascinating look at Sonora’s rich history with Pat Perry, the City’s Official Historian and one of the people most responsible for preserving the stories that make our community special.
Pat came to Sonora in 1984 as the City’s Finance Director—and quickly fell in love with the City’s past. What started as curiosity turned into decades of dedication: from creating walking history tours for local 4th graders, to helping write weekly history articles for the Union Democrat, later published in the beloved book Sonora Remembered.
Appointed Official Historian in 2002, Pat has continued her work as a volunteer even after retiring, researching, documenting, and sharing Sonora’s people and places from her office at City Hall.
Whether you’re a longtime local, a history buff, or just curious about the stories behind the streets you walk every day, this is a chance to connect with Sonora’s past—and each other.

We are excited to announce a partnership with Tuolumne County Arts to provide free art classes at the Museum.
All art mediums are welcome. Some supplies will be available, and feel free to bring some of your own.
During the class, you will learn a bit of local history and, guided by a TCA art teacher, use an artifact from our collection as inspiration to paint. Artists will also have an opportunity to share their work in the museum at future events (more details on that to be provided at the class).
